Man Killed in Cobb County Truck Accident on Powers Ferry Road

Male Pedestrian Was Reportedly Lying in the Road Before Being Run Over by Pickup Truck in Cobb County

COBB COUNTY, GEORGIA (February 6, 2026) – A man has tragically died in a Cobb County car accident on Powers Ferry Road just north of Sherwood Drive.

Cobb County officials are saying that the accident took place around 1:19 AM on January 17. Authorities believe that a male pedestrian was lying in the roadway and partially in the center turn lane before he was struck by a Ford F-150 truck.

Paramedics were called to the scene of the collision to help the victim. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Unfortunately, he was beyond medical aid and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Investigators are working to determine why he was in the roadway prior to the collision.

Liability for Cobb County Pedestrian Accidents

 Drivers must use caution to avoid colliding with any pedestrian in the roadway. Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 40-6-93, “every driver of a vehicle shall exercise due care to avoid colliding with any pedestrian upon any roadway, shall give warning by sounding his horn when necessary, and shall exercise proper precautions upon observing any child or any obviously confused, incapacitated, or intoxicated person.” There are many ways that a driver may have acted negligently prior to hitting a pedestrian.

• Speeding: A driver may have been traveling too fast given the prevailing conditions of the roadway.
• Scanning: A driver may have failed to properly scan the roadway ahead of them for pedestrians or other potential hazards.
• Maintenance: A driver may have failed to perform routine inspections and maintenance on their vehicle.
• Intoxication: A driver may have been under the influence of alcohol or a number of other substances.
