We take pride in our involvement with our local community. We believe in giving back to the people and area that has helped us so much. The world is still a good place, and we want to help keep it that way. We’ve also created the Giving Project and a Butler Kahn Scholarship.

Habitat for Humanity

We recently volunteered at Habitat for Humanity, an organization that builds affordable homes for local hardworking families. We participated in a “Day 1 Build” in which we constructed all of the walls for the exterior and interior of the house. Edna- the home buyer- was born in Carroll County and moved to Atlanta when she was nine years old. She knows what hard work is as she juggles two positions: one in retail and one in building services. She has maintained one for 14 years, the other for six. She looks forward to spending time in her new home cooking with her close-knit family!

Volunteering with Trees Atlanta

We have volunteered multiple times now with Trees Atlanta, a local nonprofit that works to build and maintain Atlanta’s famous tree canopy.  This time we worked in a park not far from our Atlanta office.  We mulched trees and shrubs, removed invasive weeds, cleared parasites from the area around recently-planted saplings, and clipped the vines that threatened larger trees.  We worked up a pretty decent sweat for a team of office workers!  We’d like to thank James and his team at Trees Atlanta for the great work that they do and giving us a good reason to get outside on a beautiful Saturday morning.

Black Lives Matter

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

Legal Food Frenzy

Butler Kahn participated in the Ninth Annual Georgia Legal Food Frenzy, raising money for the Atlanta Community Food Bank.  Georgia Legal Food Frenzy is an annual food and fund competition hosted by the State Bar of Georgia’s Young Lawyers Division (“YLD”), Attorney General Chris Carr, and the Georgia Food Bank Association.  Butler Kahn’s own Morgan Lyndall chairs the competition for the YLD.  This year the competition raised over $700,000, which is over 2.8 million meals that can be distributed to families in Georgia.  Butler Kahn looks forward to participating in the competition next year and in years to come

My Sister's House

For Farrah Butler’s first birthday party, guests brought diapers and other items for donation to My Sister’s House, an Atlanta program aimed at helping women and children avoid homelessness. When they dropped everything off, Jeb and Anne also donated twenty-five backpacks from BT’s Backpack Program.

GTLA’s Party for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta

On December 5, 2017, the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association’s New Lawyers Division volunteered to help the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.  The theme was the famous Disney movie Frozen.

While there, GTLA members (our own Jeb Butler included) dressed up as characters from the movie and spent time with children.  They danced, made delicious cookies, painted faces, and even got to have fun in a photo booth.  They dedicated their evening to these children and made it a memory that no one involved will ever forget.

Improving Atlanta Parks With Park Pride

Butler Law got together one weekend morning to join Park Pride, an Atlanta, Georgia nonprofit organization devoted to maintaining Atlanta’s parks. Firm members, their families, and their friends recovered a footpath in Peachtree Hills Park.
