COBB COUNTY, GEORGIA (October 19, 2026) – Two teenagers were injured in a Cobb County dump truck accident near the intersection of Roberts Boulevard and Vaughn Road.
Georgia State Police are saying that the collision occurred around 2:15 PM on Wednesday afternoon. A white Peterbilt dump truck was heading east on Roberts Boulevard when it collided with the right side of a Kia at the intersection.
The force of the impact caused both vehicles to end up in a wooded area on the sidewalk. Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the crash to help all of the victims.
A 17-year-old driver and his 16-year-old passenger were both taken to the hospital to receive treatment. The 64-year-old driver of the dump truck was not injured in the crash.
Anyone with more information about what happened is encouraged to contact the police.
Georgia drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care under all the circumstances to avoid collisions. Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 40-6-71, “The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left within an intersection or into an alley, private road, or driveway shall yield the right of way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction which is within the intersection or so close thereto as to constitute an immediate hazard.” There are a number of relevant questions that need to be considered after any truck accident.
Depending on the unique facts of any case, liability for any truck collision could extend beyond whatever driver may be deemed liable. Consider, for example, Davenport v. Little, 132 Ga. App. 391 (1974). That case involved a minor who sustained severe injuries after his vehicle collided with a dump truck in an intersection. A number of pieces of evidence were presented, and there were disputes over speed and other items. Ultimately, the court held that evidence supported a comparative negligence view. In other words, both drivers were partially at fault for the collision.
Thousands of people are killed or seriously injured every year in preventable accidents involving commercial trucks. According to one report from the NHTSA, an estimated 5340 people died in traffic collisions involving large trucks in just 2024 alone. An overwhelming majority of these accidents involve the occupants of passenger vehicles. It is important that evidence is properly preserved after any truck accident.
When the police arrive at the scene of a crash, they will typically conduct a preliminary investigation into what happened and who is at fault. But this investigation is far from exhaustive. For serious injury crashes, it is a good idea to have the incident examined by a team experienced in accident reconstruction and negligence claims. Victims may be able to pursue some measure of accountability through a personal injury claim.
