WTVJ/NBC in Miami reported Thursday that NFL Dolphins team member Kendrick Norton suffered severe injuries as a result of a car wreck. While many Americans spent the day with friends and family celebrating Independence Day, Norton reportedly was hospitalized following the tragic wreck, and his arm had to be amputated.
Details of the accident remain under investigation, but authorities say Norton was driving when his vehicle hit a concrete barrier on the road and overturned. Another car was reportedly involved in the wreck but the driver of that car, a 2015 Maserati, was not injured. There is no word on what caused the crash, and the Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
The Dolphins signed Norton in December, and the 22-year Florida native was hoping to play his first season professionally this fall. Unfortunately, that will no longer be possible.
Car wrecks are a leading cause of “traumatic amputations.” The car accident can cause a crash victim’s arm or leg to be so severely damaged that amputation is the only option to save a person’s life. According to the National Limb Loss Information Center, arm amputations accounted for many trauma-related amputations, about 68 percent of all amputations in total.
3 Reasons Why Car Wreck Victims Like Miami Dolphins Player Need Help Recovering From An Accident
Norton will face substantial pain and suffering in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead. An expert attorney will help Norton…
- Recover damages from pain and suffering the accident has caused.
- Recover lost wages from not being able to play in the NFL.
- Recover the cost of his medical bills and physical rehabilitation.
Atlanta auto accident attorney Jeb Butler says, an experienced car accident attorney can’t “undo” the car accident, but they can help make the path to recovering financially more manageable on the victim and their family.
A highly skilled attorney will investigate to determine if another driver, manufacturing defect of the car or poor construction and maintenance of the road barriers Norton struck contributed to his injuries. Car wrecks resulting in amputations are involved and required a highly experienced and competent attorney to recover damages to help the victim live the best quality life possible on the path to recovery.
