Drinking and driving puts us all in danger, and Georgia has taken an all-hands-on-deck approach to tackling the problem. Drunk drivers face serious criminal penalties if the police catch them. Drunk drivers can also be held financially responsible for any damage they cause to others. Additionally, if a bar or restaurant knows that a customer is drunk, and knows that the customer will soon be driving, but keeps selling drinks to that person anyway, the restaurant or bar can be held accountable for the damages that it helped to cause.
Darren Tobin recently wrote an article in Verdict magazine about the consequences for selling drinks that put other drivers at risk. Read it here.
