The funds raised this year are the equivalent of over 3.7 million meals that will help Georgia families and food-insecure individuals put food on the table in this uncertain time.Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Georgia food banks have been dealing with greatly increased demand over the past year. Demand is likely to remain high as the state recovers from the impact of the virus.Butler Kahn personal injury attorney Morgan Lyndall, who serves as a co-chair of the competition, worked tirelessly promoting this year’s fundraising competition throughout the state. As part of the competition, 210 Georgia law firms and legal organizations, comprising over 19,000 legal representatives, fundraised for two top prizes: the Attorney General’s Cup and the Bar President’s Cup. Special prizes for firms of different sizes and types were also awarded.“I became chair of the Legal Food Frenzy Committee the same day I found out that I passed the bar,” Lyndall said. “Since that time, Legal Food Frenzy has grown 117 percent from $400,325.00 in 2018 to $936,883.10 in 2021. During my first three years as Legal Food Frenzy chair, Georgia’s legal community raised $2,212,654.15 for Georgia’s food banks, which is roughly the equivalent of 8,756,209 meals that have been distributed to the Georgia community through its food banks.”Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr released a statement citing the impressive statistics. “For ten years, our network has rallied together to do our part to end food insecurity in our own backyard. In 2020, Georgia attorneys ramped up efforts to support the emergency response and helped the food banks to provide 3.3 million meals to our neighbors. This year, we doubled-down to beat last year’s numbers and raised another 3.7 million meals for the food banks. I am incredibly proud of the collective efforts of our community and am thankful to everyone who helps to make this impact possible each year.”The fundraiser competition was first started back in 2012 and has raised enough money to provide 17 million meals to food-insecure children, families, and seniors in the years since. Butler Kahn is proud to be part of that tradition, especially in this time of great need.“Our food banks are incredibly grateful for ten years of partnership with Georgia’s legal community,” said Danah Craft, Executive Director of the Georgia Food Bank Association. “Georgia’s lawyers and legal professionals continue to aid us in our mission to feed more hungry children, seniors, and families. Our deepest appreciation goes to the Attorney General’s Office, State Bar, Young Lawyers Division, and every participant for the boundless energy and compassion that drives this historic event.”You can find out more information about the Georgia Legal Food Frenzy on their website."},{"@context":"https://schema.org/","@type":"BreadcrumbList
@type":"ListItem
{"@type":"ListItem
Young Lawyers Division’s Legal Food Frenzy Raises $936,883.10 for Meals
https://butlerfirm.com/blog/young-lawyers-divisions-legal-food-frenzy-raises-936883-10-for-meals/#breadcrumbitem"}]}]
