Tom Giannotti has dedicated his career to helping individuals, particularly those who have been seriously injured due to the negligence or wrongful conduct of others. As a trial lawyer with the Butler Law Firm, Tom is committed to ensuring that people can go up against powerful defendants and get a fair shake before a jury of their peers.
Tom grew up in Marietta, Georgia, where he graduated from Walton High School. He then earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Georgia. While still in college, Tom interned with a civil rights law firm where he worked on police shooting and false arrest cases. After taking part in a jury trial in federal court, Tom knew that he had found his passion in pursuing justice for the ‘little guy.’
In law school, Tom gained experience in the courtroom as a student prosecutor with the Athens-Clarke County District Attorney’s Office. There, he tried his first case to a jury verdict as first chair. Tom also served as an editor of the law school’s Journal of International and Comparative Law, and as the President of the Labor & Employment Law Association. As a law clerk, he had the opportunity to take part in a jury trial that resulted in a significant verdict against a medical practice, and also had the privilege of helping represent law enforcement officers in a jury trial.
After graduating from law school, Tom relocated to the Savannah area where he focused primarily on personal injury cases including car and truck wrecks, premises liability, and medical malpractice cases. Tom was also appointed to represent indigent persons accused of crimes in federal court, and frequently appeared in courts throughout southeast Georgia in criminal defense and family law cases.
Tom was selected for the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association 2019-2020 Leadership Education & Advanced Direction (LEAD) Program, which serves to identify attorneys with leadership potential and to train and equip them to serve in future leadership roles in GTLA and the community.
